Key Holder FAQs

  • A PDK is an exclusive access key that allows you to become a Book Producer with Fair Share Publishing. It grants you access to the Producers Page on the Fair Share Publishing website, where you can preview upcoming book releases and acquire Book Tokens during their minting phase.

  • The PDK is a transferable NFT granting access to this Producers Page, issued by invitation and airdropped for free to your wallet. The Book Token is a non-transferable token linked to a specific book, symbolizing your support for its publication. Book Tokens are available for purchase during a specific mint window. Both are issued on the Polygon blockchain.

  • As a PDK holder, you can acquire Book Tokens during the minting phase for each new book. The minting date is listed below the book preview as well as being emailed to PDK holders. Tokens are limited to 40 per book and are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

  • Yes, for now there is no cap on the number of BTs that can be held in a single wallet, increasing your participation in the book's success. However, when minting there is a limit of 3 per transaction to help avoid transaction errors.

  • Yes. Existing BT holders enjoy a 48-hour early access to new book offerings.

  • Holding a BT allows you to earn a portion of the royalties from the sales of physical books that are linked to that BT. It directly links your support to the success of the book you choose to back. Each BT entitles the holder to a .05% royalty for every physical book sold of that specific title. You are also entitled to claim 2 free books that you hold a BT for.

  • Fair Share Publishing aims to revolutionize the publishing industry by connecting creators directly to readers using technology. Our mission is to offer a modern platform that ensures equitable distribution of profits. Every creator we work with receives 50% royalties on net sales, significantly higher than traditional publishers. By offering Book Tokens, we allow supporters to be a part of this transformative journey and share in the book's success. We are also committed to high quality printing and leaving as light a footprint as possible on the environment. Even though it is more expensive, we do this in part by printing exclusively in the USA and shipping directly from our printer to our customer. One of the fiscal roadblocks for new publishers is the cost of high quality print runs. The BT funds go to covering the first print run of each book.

  • Book tokens are non-transferable for two reasons. One, they are not meant to be a tradable security with a resale value. And two, this adds a level of security to the wallet payment system since the BT can not be removed in an attempted hack of a holder's wallet.

  • It is very important that we have up to date contact information for all holders of PDKs and BTs so that we can make sure you are informed of book preview releases, mint dates, shipping of your free books and tax forms. You can check and update your personal information here.

  • BT are attached to a wallet system that is linked to the sales of the title they are minted for. Each book title has a designated page where you can mint and access the wallet system. Your BT funds can be managed from that page. The link is found on the Producers Page under the preview and title of each book. For more information on the walleting system and funds management please check out the Wallet overview video and its FAQ section.
