We are happy to announce we are now accepting submissions for new children’s book manuscripts!

Fair Share Publishing is a small, independent publisher committed to creating books that matter—stories that resonate with kids and families, and that reflect a wide range of voices and lived experiences. We believe children’s books can be both joyful and meaningful, helping young readers better understand themselves and the world around them.

Because we are a small team producing a very limited number of titles each year, we can only take on a few new projects at a time. This is not a reflection of the quality of your work—it’s simply a reflection of our commitment to every author we publish. When we say yes, we mean it fully. We work closely with our authors and illustrators throughout the entire publishing journey, from manuscript to launch, with care, respect, and transparency.

We do not require agented submissions. We welcome authors and illustrators of all backgrounds and experience level to submit their work.

What We’re Looking For

  • Picture books (fiction or nonfiction)

  • Visually driven middle grade manuscripts (we’re especially interested in work that lends itself to strong visual storytelling or design)

  • We do not accept board books or rhyming manuscripts

  • We’re looking for stories that are fresh, emotionally grounded, socially aware, or funny—with an authentic voice shaped by lived experience. Unique stories are hard to find, and that’s what we’re looking for.

To Submit

Please email Submissions@FairSharePublishing.com with your name and the word “manuscript” in the subject line.

Include:

  • A short author bio—we’d love to know who you are, and if you’ve been published or creatively active elsewhere

  • A brief pitch or summary of your manuscript and why you believe it’s a good fit for Fair Share Publishing

  • The full manuscript (as a Word doc or PDF) attached to the email

  • If you are an author-illustrator, feel free to include a link to your portfolio or sample artwork along with your manuscript

We accept simultaneous submissions, but please let us know if your manuscript is under consideration elsewhere—and if it gets picked up, we’d appreciate a quick note.

We aim to respond to all submissions within 6–8 weeks. If you haven’t heard from us by then, feel free to follow up.

At Fair Share, we believe publishing should be a partnership built on trust, transparency, and a shared commitment to making great books for kids.

Illustrators: We want to know who you are too (after all our founder taught in the Illustration Department at Parsons School of Design for 16 years)! We keep a list of Illustrators that we would love to work with. If you would like to have your name added to the list, please email Submissions@FairSharePublishing.com with a link to your portfolio. We are happy to work with represented and non- represented artists.
